The Denver Nuggets made an excellent move by acquiring nine-time NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Los Angeles Clippers will send Westbrook to the Utah Jazz in exchange for a second-round draft pick and cash. ESPN Insider expects Westbrook to join the Denver Nuggets as a free agent.
“The Los Angeles Clippers are sending guard Russell Westbrook, a second-round pick swap, and cash to the Utah Jazz in a sign-and-trade agreement for guard Kris Dunn. Once Russell Westbrook clears waivers, the expectation is that he’ll join the Denver Nuggets as a free agent and bring them another veteran to bolster the team’s bench and be available as a spot starter.” Wojnarowski said.
Recently, Shams Charania, an NBA insider for the Athletics, also reported on the reports about Westbrook.
NBA fans are buzzing with excitement after hearing the latest trade news. Many NBA analysts are debating what the upcoming season holds for Westbrook. The former NBA player offered some valuable advice for the Nuggets to up their game in the next season. During a recent episode of Undisputed, ten-time NBA All-Star Paul Pierce expressed his belief that Westbrook and Jamal Murray would excel together as starters for the Denver Nuggets.
“I would make him a starter. And I think you could put him in as a starter like you did Jason Kidd because now you could throw Jamal Murray at the two and tell Jamal you know what you could be the scorer you are because you got too much responsibility trying to playmaker and then you negotiating between being when to assist and when to be a scorer. Jamal Murray is a natural-born scorer… I like him as a starter; okay, like a 35-minute starter, man, you can get about 28 to 30 minutes.” Pierce said.
