The Milwaukee Bucks have secured a mid-season feel-good moment for themselves. In their quest for glory, the Bucks were initially aiming to clinch the NBA ring this season. While that dream is still on, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. have managed to emerge as champions earlier. Their fantastic run in the NBA Cup saw them lifting the honors. Unfortunately, despite the glory, Head Coach Doc Rivers is not happy. He has taken things up with Adam Silver, so much so.
Reflecting on the issue, Rivers mentioned that the NBA schedule is too hectic. The athletes do not have time to recover, and the regular season kicks off immediately after the NBA Cup. “I can be honest, I don’t know if we’ve recovered yet… It just takes a lot. I just think after the Cup, the first game should be probably on Sunday. You know, that would be great for everybody. That’s exactly what I was talking to him about, you know… He asked me what changes [he] should make,” Rivers stated.

Surely enough, the Bucks showed signs of fatigue as they took on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday. Missing the services of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, the team succumbed to a 124-101 defeat. Meanwhile, despite winning the NBA Cup, the Bucks did not celebrate. This was due to strict directions from Rivers.
Doc Rivers Unveils Reason To Not Celebrate NBA Cup Victory
The Milwaukee Bucks were seen taking a timid approach after their NBA Cup win. It was quite unusual for a team not to celebrate right after they had won a major championship. Curiousness was built, and it was revealed that Doc Rivers was the mastermind behind this plan. And he had good reason to do so.
Bucks coach Doc Rivers told me after talking with Darvin Ham and his experience with Lakers last season, they chose not to celebrate The Cup championship with dousing and drinking of champagne. Want to focus on the remainder of the season. pic.twitter.com/CQ0J0aoeWz

Rivers took a lesson from his assistant coach, Darvin Ham. During Ham’s tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James and Co. celebrated after winning the NBA Cup. Unfortunately, their regular season got off the charts as they huffed and puffed to an eighth-place finish. And this is exactly what Rivers did not want. He wanted to make sure that the focus remained the same throughout the NBA regular season.
