On Sunday, Jalen Brunson led the New York Knicks to victory against the Chicago Bulls by 120-119 in overtime, securing the Eastern Conference’s second seed. This season has been the Knicks’ best since 2012-13 when they finished 54-28 and won the No. 2 seed.
Brunson has been a top performer for the Knicks this season, significantly improving his solid performance last year and elevating the team to the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.
Knicks point guard is making a compelling case for being selected for the All-NBA team, averaging 28.6 points on a 48.0 percent field goal percentage, including a 40.2 percent three-point percentage.
During a recent episode of ‘Game Time,’ Sam Mitchell, a former NBA player and the 2007 NBA Coach of the Year, was asked about his pick for the NBA MVP. In response, the NBA analyst stated that Jalen Brunson is the best point guard and should be ranked higher than Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“[Jalen Brunson is] above Giannis in my MVP voting. … He’s been the best point guard in the Eastern Conference. Period.” Sam Mitchell said.

Mitchell thinks Brunson should be given more credit for his contributions to the Knicks’ achievements
Mitchell’s comments will surely spark some debate since the Greek Freak finished the season averaging over 30 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists per game. Mitchell’s viewpoint is justified, considering the Knicks’ season-long injury troubles.
All-star forward Julius Randle played only 46 games this season due to a shoulder injury, while starter center Mitchell Robinson played only 30 due to an ankle injury suffered in December.
The New York Knicks are the most exciting team in the Eastern Playoffs. Despite not being considered competitive at the start of the season, they are the NBA‘s second-best team, trailing only the Celtics.
