Ben Simmons’ on-court performance during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers often left basketball fans in awe. This impressive run with the 76ers set high expectations when the Brooklyn Nets welcomed him before the 2022–23 season. Nets fans believed Simmons could be the missing piece to elevate their team, but those dreams have yet to be realized.
Recently, Simmons has faced criticism, especially after fans trolled him and his trainer for his trainer’s bold claim regarding his comeback season. However, the star point guard didn’t shy away from addressing his critics during the Brooklyn Nets’ media day on Monday.
“I think people forget me as a player when I’m healthy; I can play basketball; I’m pretty good, right? For me, it’s just being consistent with that and staying on top of my body,” Simmons said.
“Getting better every day and staying in the gym with these guys,” he added.

“From what we’ve seen so far with Ben, Ben is a full go for camp, which for us, that’s exciting to see. And for him, he’s champing at the bit to be able to get out there and contribute,” Marks said.
Last season was a tough one for both Simmons and the Nets. The team failed to qualify for the NBA playoffs for the first time since the 2017-18 season, while Simmons’ season was another forgettable one. He played in only 15 games, averaging 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists.
