The Brooklyn Nets have been on the hunt for the perfect trade package for Kevin Durant ever since he demanded a trade. Teams have put together their best offers for the former MVP winner, but the Nets are looking for much more.
After trading so much to the Houston Rockets to obtain James Harden, the team is refusing to settle for pennies on the dollar for their star.
One of the strongest packages out there for Kevin Durant is the Golden State Warriors. The reigning champs could theoretically offer a combination of Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, and salary filler for the Nets star.
Sounds good, but according to Zach Lowe, Brooklyn isn’t impressed by this deal. (via The Lowe Post)
“The intel I have is that the Nets are not super high on Wiggins or Poole as sort of centerpiece players. Then you get to the other guys who are relatively unproven in the NBA. So I don’t know if there ever really was a deal there that the Nets would have done. Obviously, you have to explore it if you’re the Warriors.”
Another challenge in a potential Warriors-Nets trade is that Wiggins is heading into the final year of a designated player extension. The Nets have already traded for Ben Simmons while he is on a designated player extension. Teams cannot trade for two players who have signed designated player extensions.
