With the 2024 NBA Draft less than a month away, the preparations for the franchises are at its conclusive stage. Apart from the buzz surrounding the projected number one pick, Alex Sarr, Bronny James is the one hogging all the spotlight. The scrutiny of the 19-year-old has been extensive due to his father, LeBron James, and the potential domino effect of his draft. While LeBron passed his son with flying colors when it came to handling the media pressure, his mother also gave her approval to Bronny’s pivotal decision ahead of the NBA Draft.
Bronny’s agent, Rich Paul, confirmed ahead of the withdrawal deadline for the draft on Wednesday that James Jr. is locked in the drafting pool. Savannah showed her support for her son and posted the news on her Instagram story.
Savannah has thoroughly supported Bronny’s new step in life and attended the USC guard’s Pro Day in the Lakers facility. In addition to the Lakers, the Suns are also in contention to land Bronny James with their 22nd pick.
Given the uncertainty over LeBron’s future, Bronny’s draft selection became a key talking point leading up to the June event. While many reports suggest that the father-son duo’s destiny is not tied in the same strand, it won’t be a surprise if they share the same locker room. But there is a price for that.
Lakers Might Need to Splash $7 Million to Get Bronny James
A common belief among the NBA franchises is that Bronny James is a key bargain chip to rope in his legendary father. With Bronny projected as a second-round pick, the Lakers might miss the chance to draft him if the Suns pull the trigger early.
According to Jovan Buha of the Athletic, the Lakers might acquire Bronny by trading and offering some cash. “More realistically if you see Bronny ending up on the Lakers, it’s likely them either trading back or buying a pick … So maybe he goes like pick 34, early in the second-round and whatever team that drafts him has an agreement with the Lakers where they then could trade Bronny. Lakers could send cash up to about $7 million,” said Buha during a recent show on Fox 11.

Currently, the Lakers hold pick No.17, and they will unlikely reserve it for Bronny. Whether he stays with his family in LA at the end of June or the whole James family moves out to a different city will depend on the summer events that one must follow closely.
