Former Portland Trailblazer player Sebastian Telfair will have a few years to think about what he did after he received a 3-year sentence for driving around Brooklyn with a loaded gun.
The 33-year-old was sentenced to three and a half years after a Brooklyn jury found him guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in April, prosecutors said.
Via TMZ:
“As we previously reported … the 34-year-old former high school phenom was busted back in June 2017 in Brooklyn …. after cops found an arsenal of weapons in his car during a traffic stop.
Officials say the former Trail Blazer, Celtic, Clipper and Timberwolf (to name a few) had 3 pistols and what appeared to be a semi-automatic rifle.
Telfair was convicted of one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon back in April … and was facing up to 15 years behind bars, so it could’ve been worse for the hooper.”
This was a trial that featured Telfair’s wife and former mistress testifying against him while his current girlfriend was looking on in support of him.
“This defendant exercised his right to a jury trial and was found guilty of possessing an illegal firearm,” District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said in a statement. “The mandatory prison sentence he received today is required by law and he has now been held accountable for the unlawful conduct.”
