Carmelo Anthony has built himself quite the career on the court. Although, it hasn’t resulted in the ultimate prize of winning an NBA Championship, he has always been looked at as a winner off the court by marrying La La Anthony.
Those days are now over after La La filed divorce docs Thursday in New York, according to TMZ.
The ending of their marriage comes 11 years after they tied the knot. Things have been rocky as they separated, reconciled, and have had years of rumors about possible cheating.
“Sources close to the former couple tell TMZ … they’ve been separated for awhile but remain friends, as always, after 16 years together, and everything about the divorce is amicable.
We’re told they both wanted to take time to ensure a private and smooth transition in their relationship for their 14-year-old son, Kiyan — who’s always their top priority — and they remain fully aligned as parenting partners.”
La La was hosting an MTV show when she and Carmelo ended up meeting in the club scene through a mutual friend named DJ Clue. The couple officially got engaged in 2004 just after Melo came into the NBA. Three years later, they had a boy named Kiyan, who is now a teenager.

Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony would get married on July 10, 2010 in New York City. VH1 actually filmed the ceremony for the reality series on the couple called “La La Anthony’s Full Court Wedding.”
