It finally happened. For years, many across the league believed Anthony Davis would eventually make his exit from the New Orleans franchise as they have been unable to pair him with viable players and win consistently year in and year out.
Early Monday morning, his agent, Rich Paul, has apparently informed the team Davis wants out well before he becomes a free agent next summer, according to ESPN.
This decision now puts pressure on the franchise to find a suitable trade partner that would give them a nice return to secure their immediate future as they have to come to grips with losing the best player in franchise history.
As for the timing of the trade request, Paul told Wojnarowski: “Anthony wanted to be honest and clear with his intentions and that’s the reason for informing them of this decision now. That’s in the best interests of both Anthony’s and the organization’s future.”
This news presents a prime opportunity for the Los Angeles Lakers to make a run at Davis and finally add that much coveted 2nd superstar to play alongside LeBron James.
