Brandon Miller is doing his best to put himself in the good graces of Charlotte Hornets fans, but his outrageous claims are making other fan bases look at him weirdly.
After being selected by the club, Miller offered a lofty goal for his rookie campaign.
“I can see the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA Finals next year,” Miller said in a now-viral video with WCNC Charlotte. “Hopefully, we will get there and get the big trophy in the end.”
It should be noted that Charlotte finished with the fourth-worst record in the NBA last season at 27–55. In the past ten seasons, the franchise has only been to the playoffs twice. The Charlotte Hornets last made the playoffs in 2016, when they lost the Eastern Conference First Round. They’ve been in the playoffs a total of 10 times in their 33 seasons.
The last time they won a playoff series was in 2002 against the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference First Round.

The talented forward, who is currently among the favorites to earn NBA Rookie of the Year honors, would have to have a record-setting impact on his new club in order to deliver on his promise.
This isn’t the first time he has done something crazy has he already stated that Clippers forward Paul George was his greatest basketball player of all time over the likes of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James, among others.
Aside from an outlandish statement, Miller was accused of bringing former teammate Darius Miles a gun that was later used in a fatal shooting during his time in college. Miller was never charged nor suspended, but his role in the incident had been a focus heading into the draft.
Opposing fan bases may heckle him a lot about this as he heads into his rookie season.
