The New Orleans Pelicans managed a home win against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night this week with Brandon Ingram sitting out the second half.
The star forward suffered a right ankle sprain that prevented him from playing the half but it didn’t stop him from taking a bite out of teammate Jose Alvarado as part of what was a very bizarre moment.
Alvarado, who’s been out with an injury himself having sustained a stress reaction in his right tibia, was caught on camera getting bitten by Ingram after doing a bit of playing around. The latter was seen putting an arm around Alvarado and biting into his shoulder vampire-style, much to the surprise of the sneaky point guard, who grimaced in pain.

In case you’re wondering why we referred to Alvarado as sneaky above, it’s because he’s known to dispossess opponents in the sneakiest of ways and has earned the nickname “Grand Theft Alvarado” as a result.

The Pelicans will hope that both Alvarado and Ingram could return to action soon as they could use a significant boost in the Western Conference standings. They’re currently 10th in the conference, tied with the Los Angeles Lakers at 32-34.
Should Ingram remain out longer with the sprain, it would really hurt the Pels as Zion Williamson will be out for another few weeks. Ingram has already missed 35 games with injury this season, sitting out for 29 consecutive fixtures with a toe problem.
