Bradley Beal’s underwhelming debut season for the Suns ended with a disappointing loss against the Timberwolves as the Minnesota franchise sent him and his team packing after a series sweep.
Beal only managed to get 9 points on the board with the series on the line and was subsequently subbed by Frank Vogel in the third quarter. But the moment became controversial as the 30-year-old guard was seen brushing off his HC’s outstretched arm before heading to the bench. The moment has become viral on the internet since then and shows the discontent between the player and the coach.
It was a season of struggle for Beal as he was only available for 53 games in the regular season. His performance was not up to the mark either, as the three-time NBA All-Star averaged only 18.2 points per game while shooting with 51.3% accuracy from the field.
The moment surely mounts more pressure on Vogel, who was dismissed last term by the Lakers. Beal was not the only player who showed frustration towards Vogel, as concerning reports indicate his losing grip in the locker room.
Frank Vogel’s Locker Room Outburst Reportedly Lead to Suns Players Rolling Their Eyes
Frank Vogel had no answer to Anthony Edwards‘ onslaught in their short-lived series. The Timberwolves tossed the Suns out of the postseason with dominant displays in all four games.
Even before the clean sweep in the postseason, Vogel’s standing in the Suns locker room was questionable. According to The Athletic, Vogel went berserk in the changing room after a loss to the Clippers on April 9. But the rant was deemed forced by many of the Suns players, which led to them rolling their eyes upon experiencing the outburst. A player even contained his laughter, as the report states, and it clearly shows the lack of faith in the 50-year-old.
