Bob Ryan does not care to have one of the best players in NBA history on the Celtics.
The Boston Globe writer didn’t hold back in a fiery rant about Nets star Kevin Durant, who he called a “s–t head” on Tuesday.
“Screw him,” Ryan said in the latest episode of his podcast, adding that he’s happy the Celtics did not go out and make a trade for the Nets star.
“I don’t need him. I’m happy. I don’t want to win with him,” said the 76-year-old Ryan, who still writes semiregularly for The Globe. “I want to root for this group right here that we have seen assembled and grow. Now that we’ve added [Malcolm] Brogdon.. I love this team. I don’t want to win with that s–t head and I think he is one, frankly… I don’t want to win with this guy. Screw him. No.”
It was previously reported that the reigning Eastern Conference champion Celtics took part in trade talks with the Nets about a possible deal for Durant that included a package centered around All-Star forward Jaylen Brown.
Eventually, the talks of a trade ended after the Nets said in a statement that both sides are “moving forward” together to chase the franchise’s first-ever NBA championship.
