The TD Garden hosted a thrilling game between the defending champions, the Boston Celtics, and the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors emerged as winners with a 118-112 win due to a clutch performance from Buddy Hield in the final seconds.
The Celtics struggled to find their rhythm in the first half but mounted a strong comeback in the second half, putting pressure on the Warriors. However, Stephen Curry, returning from an ankle injury, was the driving force for Golden State. Curry played with high energy and led the Warriors to victory with an impressive 27 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds.
But it was Hield who stole the show. Coming off the bench, he scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in 29 minutes. His pivotal moment came with 47 seconds left in the game, hitting a crucial 3-pointer that gave the Warriors a seven-point lead and all but guaranteed the win.
Andrew Wiggins added 16 points, and Kyle Anderson contributed 11 points. Jonathan Kuminga also had an impactful performance with 10 points, four rebounds, and one assist. Draymond Green added 9 points, while Gary Payton II and Kevon Looney each chipped in with 6 points.
Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 32 points, including five three-pointers, four rebounds, and two assists. Derrick White had a strong performance, adding 26 points, six assists, and three rebounds.
Neemias Queta contributed 14 points and eight rebounds, while Payton Pritchard added 16. Al Horford scored 10 points, while Jrue Holiday and Sam Hauser each scored 6 points in the loss.

Buddy Hield’s arrival at the Warriors in a six-team trade this past July has undoubtedly made an impact. After the Warriors lost Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks, Hield’s addition brought much-needed depth to the team. Following the Warriors’ thrilling 118-112 victory over the Celtics, Hield reflected on the win’s significance and how it served as a statement for the team.
“What do you think? It’s a statement. If we don’t win, everybody says, ‘Oh, they ain’t played nobody.’ You gotta come make a statement, right?” Hield said.
Hield debuted for the Warriors in their season opener against the Portland Trail Blazers, and he’s quickly found his rhythm. So far this season, the new Warriors star is averaging 21.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
