It’s been more than 100 days since WNBA star Brittney Griner was detained upon her arrival in Russia. The U.S. government has said Griner has been “wrongfully detained” and multiple basketball players and stars have come to raise awareness and kep attention on her until she is set free.
You can now add the Celtics’ Grant Williams to the list of growing voices. Williams wore a shirt Tuesday which had the words “It’s time to bring Brittney home” on the back as he boarded the Celtics’ flight to San Francisco for the NBA Finals.
By Saturday, the Celtics team started rocking the shirts during practice.
The 31-year-old Griner was detained Feb. 17 when she traveled to Moscow to play overseas during the WNBA’s offseason. But she was arrested after officials said they found vape cartridges of hashish oil. Griner has been in Russia since.
