On Friday, Los Angeles police released a video of the arrest of New Orleans Pelicans player Jaxson Hayes at a home in Woodland Hills.
The video shows Hayes on the ground struggling with three officers on the front porch of the home. He could be heard screaming about not being able to breathe. He could also be seen pushing of the officers into an exterior wall of the house. Cops were called to the scene by a woman who said she “received ‘disturbing’ texts from her cousin who said Hayes was ‘getting loud and violent.'”
The video also shows multiple officers restraining Hayes on the ground before using a Taser on him at least once.
Hayes was arrested on July 28 “after a struggle with officers who responded to a report of a domestic dispute and used a Taser before handcuffing him.”
LAPD Chief Michel Moore said that the Hayes case involves “the possibility of force being applied to the suspect’s neck during the use of force in taking him into custody.”
Earlier this month, police launched a categorical use of force investigation into the arrest.

He was booked into the Van Nuys Jail on suspicion of resisting arrest.
Hayes, a Texas native, was the No. 8 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He has spent his entire professional career with the Pelicans.
