The NBA has seen several players get injured on and off the court, but what happened Wednesday night was very unlikely and beyond anybody’s expectations. In a matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers, Bismack Biyombo suddenly collapsed on the court.
The incident happened during the first quarter of the game when the OKC center suddenly fainted while a timeout was called. Fortunately, there has been some positive developments on Biyombo’s condition, and the center is now out of danger.

Positive update on Bismack Biyombo’s health condition
When Bismack Biyombo collapsed on the floor with nothing to break his fall on the hardwood, it scared the entire team and the OKC staff. However, the player soon regained consciousness and was helped off to the sidelines.
Fortunately, after evaluating him, the doctors stated to the sideline reporter that Biyombo was fine and out of danger. Nevertheless, Biyombo did not return to the game after that.
“He’s fine. He just fainted, basically, he was in the locker room at halftime laughing and joking,” said coach Mark Daigneault.

The player’s health is now in optimal condition although the team will be monitoring him before Biyombo is cleared to return to the court. During the game, the fact that he was able to regain consciousness and walk back to the locker room was initially regarded as a positive sign.
How did Bismack faint
During the first quarter of the OKC vs Trailblazers game, as the players were going towards the sidelines after a timeout was called, Biyombo collapsed and fell. His teammates immediately helped him and brought him to consciousness.
The officials even called for a wheelchair, but it didn’t come to any use as Biyombo got up and was helped by his teammates towards the locker room.
Whenever a medical condition like this comes up, caution is always the best practice to follow. That is exactly what the OKC staff and doctors did. Now that Biyombo has been cleared of danger, fans will be waiting for his return. However, not everyone has been as lucky as Bismack Biyombo.
Back in 1993, Reggie Lewis, a former Celtic, passed away during a practice session in the offseason due to a cardiac abnormality. Luckily, this was not the case this time, and no medical issue was reported by the doctors after the evaluation. Hopefully, we will see Bismack Biyombo in action soon.
