The entire world was brought to its knees on Sunday after the horrific news of Kobe Bryant passing away in a helicopter crash that also claimed the lives of his daughter and seven others in Calabasas, California.
BBC wanted to pay tribute to him just like everybody else, but they missed the mark entirely.
The British Broadcasting Corporation program BBC News at Ten attempted to air clips of Bryant while speaking highly of him, but instead, they showed clips of Lakers superstar LeBron James.
Not only that, it was just clips of LeBron playing against the Philadelphia 76ers from Saturday where Bron actually passed Kobe on the all-time scoring list.
The BBC News at Ten later apologized:
“In tonight’s coverage of the death of Kobe Bryant on BBC News at Ten, we mistakenly used pictures of LeBron James in one section of the report,” a BBC statement read. “We apologize for this human error, which fell below our usual standards on the program.”
