After defeating Serbia in the semifinal on Thursday, Team USA entered the basketball finals at the Paris Olympics 2024. Interestingly, this is the fifth consecutive time the American team will play in the finals of the prestigious quadrennial event. Thanks to the likes of Steph Curry and LeBron James, who played some exceptional games to help their team contend for yet another gold medal this year in Paris.
What’s more fascinating is that Team USA was certainly on the verge of losing their semifinal game against Serbia. However, a tightened defense in the fourth quarter helped them defeat Bogdan Bogdanovic’s team for the second time in the ongoing Paris Games. Also, it is noteworthy that the Americans overcame a 17-point lead to enter the finals this Sunday, August 11.
Who Will Team USA Face In The Finals?
With a stellar 95-91 win against Serbia, Team USA is all set to face Team France in the finals. Notably, until halftime, the Americans trailed by 11 points against their semifinal opponents, with the scorecard standing at 54-43.
Team USA will enter the finals of the Paris Olympics 2024 with an unbeaten streak. They have previously defeated Serbia, South Sudan, and Puerto Rico in previous games. With hopes high, LeBron James and Co. will hope to clinch their fifth consecutive gold at the Olympics.
Team USA Vs. Team France: Head-To-Head
Ever since 1936, basketball has been a consistent fixture in the Olympics. With 25 golds, Team USA has shown nothing but utter dominance. Now, they are in pursuit of their 26th gold and fifth consecutive gold at the prestigious quadrennial event.
They will face the host, Team France, in the basketball finals this coming Sunday. Interestingly, both teams have faced each other eight times in the Olympics. However, the Americans outclassed the French players seven times, with the latter winning only once. Although France defeated Team USA in the group stage of the Tokyo Games in 2021, they lost the finals against the Americans to settle for a silver medal.
