The National Basketball Association is going through COVID hell right now. It has led to many games being cancelled or some that had a ton of players out after testing positive. Even still, the league has zero plans of making another bubble like they did in Orlando in 2020.
Everybody has their own thoughts on the situation, but Denver Nuggets guard Austin Rivers is one of those people is having none of the conspiracy theories some of his fellow NBA players are slinging around with regards to COVID-19 and vacines.
Rivers stated that he’s read comments on his Instagram posts about wild COVID-19 theories, which he ignores, but he has an entirely different reaction when it comes from his teammates.
Via Matt Sullivan of Rolling Stone:
“Rivers rolls his eyes when he hears conspiracy theories in the locker room – “fucking wild theories”: the one about Moderna mind control again, and then the fake news about Joe Biden and Big Pharma in bed with the Illuminati for millions.
“It’s all for money,” Rivers recalls hearing a fellow player say.
“How’s it for money? It’s fucking free!”
The league entered Wednesday with 84 players from 20 teams known to be in the protocols.
With an outbreak going on in the league, the NBA is seriously hoping they can get this in control before the playoffs come around, because an outbreak can change the tide of entire playoff series.
