LeBron James is gearing up for his 22nd season in the NBA. After a challenging previous year, the Los Angeles Lakers are looking to regain their championship form. With secondary players like Austin Reaves stepping up, James is putting in the effort to help the team bounce back. However, in this renewed push for a title, James seems to prefer avoiding one-on-one basketball.
During an interview with BustaJack Golf, Reaves was asked if he had ever played one-on-one against the 39-year-old Lakers star. Reaves revealed that he hadn’t faced off with James in such a setting due to James’ unwillingness.
“Nah, he doesn’t play 1v1. He said 1v1’s are not real basketball, which I kind of agree with,” Reaves said.
One-on-one games are often used in basketball to determine which player is better, especially in practice. It’s a way for players to sharpen their skills and build confidence, particularly for younger athletes. Given James’ status as one of the all-time greats, some might expect him to engage in such games to inspire his teammates. However, it’s clear that LeBron sees the sport from a broader team-oriented perspective.
LeBron James Reflects on Historic Moment as Team USA Flag Bearer in Paris
James made history at the Paris Olympics as the first-ever flag bearer for Team USA. During an interview with DraftKings Network, James expressed his excitement about the honor and reflected on the memorable experience.
“I didn’t know how to feel about it. I had seen so many different flag bearers and so many great athletes carry our flag and represent our country. We came into a team meeting, and Steph did the video for me and then said in front of the team that I had become elected alongside the great Coco Gauff,” James said.

“The moment just kind of hit me then. It’s something that’s super surreal. To be in front of that boat, in Paris with all our Olympians, and holding that flag was just such a sense of pride,” he added.
The flag bearer, James, ultimately ended his Paris Olympics journey by winning gold and securing MVP of the tournament. The success in Paris seemed to perfectly cap off his Olympic career, leaving James with no regrets if this marked his final appearance on the global stage.
