Juwan Howard, head basketball coach for the University of Michigan Wolverines, lost his temper in the handshake line after losing to the Wisconsin Badgers Sunday.
Video shows him taking an open handed swing at a Wisconsin assistant coach as players and opther coaches moved in to start an all-out brawl.
Howard’s anger was allegedly provoked by a timeout that Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard took with only 15 seconds left on the clock. The Badgers were leading by 15 points at the time. Howard called it “not necessary” at the moment, and later claimed Gard touched him “unnecessarily” in the handshake line.
Closer video and audio shows the conversation between the two.
Howard later refused to apologize for the incident, pinning the blame on Gard.
“Someone touched me, and I think it was very uncalled for, for them to touch me, as we were verbalizing and communicating with one another,” Howard told reporters. “That’s what escalated it.”

As of now, Howard still has his job, although the university says it “will determine if any further disciplinary actions are needed.”
