An arrest warrant has been issued for former Chicago Bulls sharpshooter Ben Gordon following his failure to appear in court and answer two misdemeanor battery charges, as noted by CWBChicago, per court records.
Gordon was arrested for battering two security guards at a McDonald’s restaurant in River North, Chicago on November 4. According to city police records, the former NBA player left the Near North District police station on his own recognizance.
A warrant was issued for Gordon by a Cook County judge on December 21 as a result of his failure to appear on said date. Judge Daniel Gallagher signed the document and set a bond forfeiture hearing for January. The warrant was still active as of this Thursday.
Why Gordon Was Arrested And Charged
Gordon, who spent 11 years in the NBA, was being escorted from the aforementioned establishment around 3:15 AM on November 4 before punching a 29-year-old male security guard in the face, knocking him to the ground. Another 21-year-old male security guard was pushed to the ground too.
This isn’t Ben’s first brush with the law. The troubled ex-professional basketball player was also arrested in October after he was seen punching his 10-year-old son in the face while they prepared to board a flight to Chicago at LaGuardia Airport in New York City. According to the New York Post, two Port Authority of New York, as well as New Jersey police officers, were injured while effecting the arrest.
Back in 2017, the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year was arrested for pulling a fire alarm in an apartment building in Los Angeles. He was also arrested and charged for robbing the manager of a residential complex where he lived that same year. The charges were dropped following a “civil compromise.”
