The Los Angeles Lakers and All-Star big man Anthony Davis have reached an agreement on a lucrative multi-year extension that keeps the big man in La La Land long-term.
Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Davis has signed a three-year deal with the Lakers worth $186 million. Wojnarowski noted that this is the highest average annual value extension in history at $62 million per year.
Two months after helping the Lakers to an NBA Championship in the Orlando Bubble in 2020, Davis was rewarded with a massive five-year extension worth $190 million. With Davis again under contract long-term, it keeps LA’s championship window as LeBron James (39 in December) nears the end of his illustrious career.
Davis and James powered the seventh-seeded Lakers to a surprise Western Conference Finals appearance last season, where they were swept by the eventual NBA Champion Denver Nuggets.
In 56 games last season, the eight-time All-Star and 30-year-old Davis averaged 25.9 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.
