When the Los Angeles Lakers played the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, LeBron James and Bronny James became the first father-son team to play together in the NBA. Anthony Davis said after the game that he was happy the Lakers had finally won a game in which James created history, and the team triumphed 110-103 that evening.
The Lakers have lost almost every occasion LeBron has created history since joining them in 2018 before today. He subtly alluded to LeBron’s accomplishment of breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA scoring record two seasons prior during the Lakers’ tight 133-130 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Davis said, “This is the first time we had a LeBron moment that was something huge and we won. Every other we always lost, so it kinda kills the moment. But it was a special moment for everybody.”
Losing those games does sort of mark the moment, as Davis said. The former All-Star MVP took it upon himself to prevent it from happening again on Tuesday. With 36 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and three blocks, Davis was playing at his most dominating level against the Timberwolves.
