The Los Angeles Lakers faced a bad situation during their 102-116 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. And for Anthony Davis, it was the worst. Despite the high expectations surrounding the Lakers, they struggled to find their rhythm.
Other than the defeat, if anything hurt the Lakers most, it has to be the furious Clippers fans. During the game, the giant screen on the Intuit Dome caught everybody’s attention. The Clippers’ Wall bizarrely trolled Davis by sharing his unibrow with a clipper/shaver while the Lakers star was making free throws.

The brutal moment felt like a punch in the gut as Davis could only manage to put 16 points on 5-for-14 shooting. Although LeBron James led the team with 25 points and 11 assists, the lack of offensive support was evident. It was a sad day for the star-studded team as Austin Reaves left the game with a knee injury. The Lakers failed to capitalize on their scoring opportunities, especially during a crucial stretch in the third quarter when they needed to make every shot count.
The Clippers, on the other hand, were more confident on the court. It was Ivica Zubas’s 21 points and 19 rebounds that proved crucial for LA. They shot an impressive 52.8% from the field and managed to maintain pressure throughout the game. With the Lakers seeming to lack defensive toughness, their shortcomings were exposed by a Clippers team that executed well.

Anthony Davis Thinks Lakers Can’t Be Frontrunners

Reflecting on the team’s ups and downs this season, Davis noted that they must remain connected regardless of the score. He highlighted the importance of unity, especially when facing challenges, which he feels has been inconsistent throughout the season. The Lakers, who started strong with a 10-4 record, have experienced fluctuations that have left them struggling to keep momentum.
“No matter if we’re up or we’re down, we can’t be frontrunners. And when we’re up, just that’s when we’re connected. Even when we’re down, that’s when we have to be the most connected. I think tonight, even in that second quarter, when they went on that run, we were still able to be connected. We came into halftime, made adjustments, stayed together and were able to go out in the second half and get stops,” Davis said.

“He’s worked on his post game. That jump hook. He’s always been a good screener. Good roller. Lob threat. Offensive rebounder. Good rim protector. He’s developed his post game, where they’re throwing it to him and he’s finishing with his right hook.… pic.twitter.com/pX2RYnlF1N
Davis’s comments come at a critical time as the Lakers approach the trade deadline, with speculation surrounding potential roster changes. Despite their solid record, the team has the worst point differential for above-.500 teams in the Western Conference.
