The Los Angeles Lakers are in a strong position in the 2024-25 NBA season. Following their recent 117-96 victory over the Boston Celtics, they currently sit in fifth place in the Western Conference standings. In light of this situation, Anthony Davis has shared the Lakers’ upcoming strategy to secure the championship.
In a previous interview with Shams Charania of ESPN, Davis stated that the team needs another center and suggested playing him in the power forward position more often. During a recent post-game interview with Jovan Buha, Davis continued to emphasize to the Lakers’ front office the importance of acquiring a Center.
“I mean, we always want to have a championship mindset. We always want it to be attainable. I think our front office is, obviously working. Rob [Pelinka] is working on trying to better the team. But for us, it’s about going out and playing,” Davis said.

In the recent game against the Celtics, Davis scored 24 points, had three assists, and grabbed 8 rebounds. LeBron James and Austin Reaves also delivered strong performances. This led to an impressive victory for the Lakers against the reigning 2024 NBA champions.
Davis Highlights Benefits Of Having Another Big Man In The Lineup
Davis is currently averaging 25.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in the 2024-25 NBA season. During the same interview, Buha asked Davis whether he felt more suited to play power forward or center on both ends of the court. Davis responded that having another big man in the lineup would provide the team with a height advantage.
“Well, defensively, just bringing another big out there, we’ve seen it with Jaxson, we’re a little bit more disruptive. Offensively, it just allows me to float around a little bit more. I only started playing the 5 in 2021. I’d have stretches, but I was primarily a 4. My whole career I’ve been playing to 4 and we’ve seen how I play. I just feel a little bit more effective… But the front office knows that. I’ve told them every year I’ve been here, so it’s nothing new,” Davis said.
