LeBron James has been heavily criticized by fans. media members and even senators for his first public comments he made on the situation between the NBA and China. Now, he’s even getting it from his peers.
Andrew Bogut, who spent a brief time as LeBron’s teammate with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017, took to Twitter on Tuesday and sent out a tweet that was definitely directed at LeBron.
He made it clear that people are willing to stand behind a social movement until it directly impacts their own financial situation.
LeBron is one of the most outspoken athletes when it comes to social justice in America and being behind the movement of not being told to “shut up and dribble.”
But, he seemed to show his true colors after he seemingly attacked Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey tweeted for sending out support for pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong. LeBron said Morey was not “educated” about the topic and should have considered the consequences.

There was also a report that LeBron tried to get the NBA to punish Morey, and called it a double standard because a player would’ve most certainly felt the pain of sending out that tweet.
“Nearly a week ago today, in a Shanghai hotel room, or Shanghai hotel ballroom, Adam Silver got up and addressed the players, and LeBron James is one of the players who got up and spoke and said, ‘Hey, what are we doing here? Daryl Morey made these statements,’” McMenamin said Tuesday of James’ comments.
“You know damn well if a player made similar statements and caused such poor ramifications for the league, there would be some sort of league recourse. There would be repercussions the player has to pay,” James argued, according to ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin.
“Potentially this tweet could cost the NBA hundreds of millions of dollars, which could come out of the players’ pockets, and so that’s the double standard that was being addressed in that meeting.”
Definitely not a good look for LeBron.
