Michael Jordan retired and came back twice. Surprisingly, there was a third occasion when His Airness wanted to grace the NBA court for the third time! Well, this unknown comeback plan was spilled recently by the former Warriors icon. Appearing on a live stream by Kai Cenat, Iguodala dropped the bombshell.
The former NBA star stated that during his rookie year, Jordan played with him. Iguodala opined that having played for only 13 years, Jordan has not lived up to his full potential. He then went on to drop the bomb that Jordan wanted to come back for his third run in 2004.
“When I was coming into (my) rookie (year), MJ was trying to come back again. We just sat him down. He was hooping with us. He was trying to figure out if he could hoop again. MJ just love hooping,” said Iguodala.
However, Iguodala was soon countered by a streamer named Ray. He opined that during his last few years, the Chicago Bulls legend lost his magical touch from the past. Ray also mentioned LeBron James, who is currently in his 22nd NBA season, in the conversation. Angered by the comparison, Iguodala stated that despite Jordan being 40, he averaged 20 points per game, which is a remarkable feat in itself. Well, this was not the first time Andre Iguodala had heaped praises on Michael Jordan.
Andre Iguodala Calls Michael Jordan A ‘Different Kind Of Human Specimen’
Andre Iguodala was part of the legendary Golden State Warriors team that ran riot in the NBA realm. But according to Iguodala, even his daunting teammates would have found it difficult to contain Michael Jordan in his prime. Provided there was a matchup between the 2010 Warriors and the 1990 Bulls, Iguodala seemed to be caught in two minds.
“He(Jordan) really was like an assassin playing basketball… But Michael Jordan was just a different type of human specimen, in just the way his mind works. It would be really good matchups though,” said Iguodala. Thus, being one of the icons in the NBA, Andre Iguodala’s admiration towards Michael Jordan speaks volumes about his love for the basketball GOAT.
