A fresh new NBA season has started, and the Los Angeles Lakers fans can rejoice. Having gone through a rough patch in the past few seasons, the LeBron James-led side is once again looking menacing. So far, the Lakers have faced off against the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Phoenix Suns. And guess what? On both occasions, the likes of James and Austin Reaves have come out on top.
Here’s an interesting fact. The last time the Lakers went 2-0 up in their NBA openers was way back in 2010-11. Reason enough to get excited, right? Wait, there’s more. And after hearing this, the Lakers fans might as well start putting aside money for the NBA finals ticket. According to a recent stat, LeBron James has reached the finals of the NBA every season when his team had a 2-0 start.
Although it might feel as if it is too early to comment. But looking at both the games, it is quite evident that the offensive strategy of the Lakers has been revisited. A huge kudos goes to JJ Redick for crafting a well-organized offensive system that was found wanting in the preceding seasons. Add to that the impeccable form that James is currently showing. Playing in his 22nd NBA season, King James dropped 16 points against the Timberwolves on 15 shots.
But he immediately showed signs of improvement when he notched up 21 crucial points against the Suns. Remarkably, 17 of these points came in the second half of the game when the Lakers were trailing. Thus, it is quite evident that James will be posing some significant threat to the opposition throughout this season. However, LeBron James is not the only threat factor in the Lakers outfit.
Anthony Davis Makes A Strong Start For The Lakers
Anthony Davis has taken the hoopers’ world by storm. After two games, Davis is averaging 35.5 points per game. Stepping in for his first game of the season, Davis dropped 36 points and 16 rebounds against the Minnesota Timberwolves. But his real test came when the likes of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker threatened to take the game away from the Lakers.

Coming to the rescue at the perfect moment, Anthony Davis racked up 35 points that titled the game in the Lakers’ favor. In fact, Davis’ contributions, along with James, played a pivotal role in overturning a massive 22-point deficit. Thus, with almost everything going perfectly for the Lakers, it remains to be seen whether LeBron James can reach the finals and keep the myth intact.
