Now, this is how you use your power and influence.
Octavia Spencer is an Academy Award-winning actress, but that doesn’t always mean she’ll get paid the same as her male counterparts. That’s where LeBron James comes in.
During a “Women Breaking Barriers” panel discussion at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend, Spencer revealed the Los Angeles Lakers superstar helped her secure better pay for the Netflix series “Madam C.J. Walker.”
“I have to say, when I was negotiating my deal for ‘Madam C.J.,’ LeBron James had to intervene,” Spencer said, according to Kate Erbland of Indie Wire. “So we need all our male counterparts to be in the fight with us.”
Spencer is one of the most vocal actresses in the fight for equal pay for women in Hollywood, so an assist off the court by James goes a long way in getting there.
