Vanessa Bryant went down memory lane to defend her late husband Kobe Bryant against past rape allegations. On her Instagram story, Vanessa slammed actress Evan Rachel Wood for a tweet she wrote just hours after Kobe and Gianna’s death was announced and that labeled him a “rapist.”
“Your false, insensitive, defamatory and slanderous tweet on 1/26/20 is vile and disturbing to say the least. Behavior like this is part of the reason why innocent black men go to jail for crimes they didn’t commit. An accusation doesn’t make someone guilty. You don’t the facts of the case.”
Wood’s tweet from January 2020 read, “What has happened is tragic. I am heartbroken for Kobe’s family. He was a sports hero. He was also a rapist. And all of these truths can exist simultaneously.”
If you’re not familiar, it was referring to Kobe’s sexual assault in 2003 by a hotel employee. The accuser would eventually refuse to testify, so both sides reached a settlement when the unidentified woman sued him.
The Westworld actress has seemingly fired back on her Instagram story by reposting a series of posts.
