Joel Embiid, the top player for the Philadelphia 76ers, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history. Throughout his exceptional career, he has achieved numerous significant milestones, including being selected as an NBA All-Star seven times, making the All-NBA Team five times, earning a place on the All-Defensive team three times, and winning the NBA scoring title twice. In 2023, he was also honored with the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award.
Despite his impressive achievements and career statistics, he has frequently faced criticism due to a series of injuries. In a recent episode of the Check Ball Show, the seven-time NBA All-Star addressed the criticism, acknowledging that he perceives himself as the most disliked figure in the league. However, he admitted to being unsure about the reasons behind the negative sentiment.
“I’m probably the most hated guy in the league. I don’t know why cause I’m just cool. I don’t know what’s there to hate about me. And I feel like a lot of people can relate to my story and what I’ve been through.” Embiid said during a recent appearance on the Check Ball Show.
Joel Embiid’s Bold Take on LeBron’s Decline Sparks Heated Debate with Stephen A. Smith
Following LeBron James’s performance in Team USA’s exhibition match against Germany, Embiid made a statement about James’s decline in performance from a few years ago. First Take presenter Stephen A. Smith responded to Embiid’s remarks during a recent show, saying that Embiid needs to quit making excuses and concentrate on taking home the gold.
“Here you are on the Olympic stage. All I’m saying is this: you are going for the gold. I don’t want to hear all that…I’m just saying for me, I don’t wanna hear that. I want to hear that after you win. Or I wanna hear that from somebody else who has won. But you? (Joel Embiid.) I need you to be that dude that you are when you are healthy so you can dominate and bring it home.” Smith said.
In addition to Smith’s remark, former NBA player Kendrick Perkins also gave his opinion on Embiid for the forthcoming NBA season. He emphasized why Embiid is under unparalleled pressure in the NBA.
