Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has had a tough start to the season. He has missed significant time due to a lingering knee issue and a league suspension. Embiid was sidelined for the first nine games of the season before briefly returning for four games, only to miss another seven to manage his recovery.
The situation became so concerning that the NBA fined the 76ers for their public statements regarding Embiid’s health. However, the star center returned during the team’s 108-100 victory over the Chicago Bulls.
After the game, Embiid opened up to ESPN about the emotional toll of dealing with his knee problems.
“Depressing. Just trying to figure it out. There’s no injury. Just between the swelling. We’ve got to get it figured out. That’s it. I’ve been saying it for the last few months. It’s been extremely depressing,” Embiid said.
It”‘s something that hasn’t been figured out, and it’s been extremely annoying, because I would love to play every single game,” he added.
