Philadelphia 76ers star Eric Gordon has established a solid career in the NBA after playing 16 seasons and making multiple playoff appearances. He was the Sixth Man of the Year and Three-Point Contest champion in 2017. But it all started from his high school career, where he famously dominated NBA legend Michael Jordan’s sons.
In an interview with Club 520 podcast, Eric Gordon recalled the game when he dropped 43 points on Michael Jordan’s sons in 2007. The 35-year-old shooting guard played at North Central High School in Indiana. Gordon’s Air Jordan moment came during the Indiana Hoosier’s game against Marcus and Jeffrey Jordan’s Loyola Academy in 2007.
“I didn’t know anything about Loyola Academy, but you know, the first thing that came to my mind was, ‘It’s a Chicago school,’ you know? That’s what I thought,” The 76ers star told Jeff Teague and the podcast crew. “But then, when I watched them on film, I saw that everything revolved around the Jordan kids—they were the best players on the team.”
“Their team was small, and I was like, ‘Okay, every time when I get the ball, if I don’t have a catch and shoot, I’m going down, I’m taking it to the rack, like every time. Or I’m going to at least try to dunk,’ but the main thing that I really wanted was to do one of Jordan’s dunks in-game,” Gordon said on the podcast,” he added.
The game was aired on national television, and Jordan was in attendance. Currently, Gordon has joined Philadelphia in search of his first NBA championship. With the addition of Paul George, the 76ers have become a serious threat to their opponents.
Eric Gordon Explains The Reason Behind Joining The Philadelphia 76ers
Last season, Gordon played 68 games with the Phoenix Suns, averaging 11 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists. During the same podcast, Gordon revealed his decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers. “I wanted a chance to win, and Philly felt like the right spot. I’m familiar with their front office, Daryl Morey and them, and I looked at their team, and it’s like, man, they got Maxey, who’s really evolved. Embiid, obviously, is one of the best players in the world,” he said.

He also mentioned Kelly Oubre and Caleb Martin and believed the team could win the championship with him. “And then you got me to knock down shots and help create when those guys are creating. It’s a great situation, man. We have all the pieces to do something special this year,” he added.
Eric Gordon will begin the NBA season with a new team for the third straight year after signing a two-year, $6.8 million contract with the 76ers. The shooting guard is highly confident in his new team’s roster to win the NBA championship. That remains to be seen as the Philadelphia 76ers face the Milwaukee Bucks in their opening clash on October 22.
