According to recent reports from NBA insider Evan Sidery, De’Anthony Melton will be a crucial player in the upcoming unrestricted free agency this offseason. He mentioned that the Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic, and San Antonio Spurs were the top teams interested in hiring Melton in their roster.
“De’Anthony Melton will command a solid market of interested teams in unrestricted free agency. Melton has developed into a reliable three-point shooting threat to go along with strong defensive production at 6’2” with a 6’8” wingspan. As the Sixers prepare to star-chase this offseason, Melton could end up elsewhere. The Hornets, Magic, and Spurs stand out as strong potential fits for the 25-year-old guard.” Sidery wrote in his recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

De’Anthony Melton Struggled with Health Issues Throughout the season
Melton’s current season was not good to remember due to recurring back issues that limited him to only 38 regular-season games. It took him five weeks to recover from his absence between January and February and another five weeks to return to play. He was benched and only played seven minutes against the Knicks in the first round, concluding the season with nearly half an hour until making a comeback on April 9.
Melton’s other significant problem is his performance throughout the season. Although he has been generally productive throughout his career, he struggled on the court. His performance was affected every time he crossed the three-point line, whether due to health issues, difficulty making contact, or a poor finishing style.
According to another report by The Athletics, the Golden State Warriors are also interested in hiring Melton to improve their roster. Despite having severe health issues, Melton has been hyped for the upcoming off-season trade.
