The ongoing trade drama between James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers is apparently over a deteriorating relationship between the star Guard and General manager Daryl Morey, but this apparently isn’t the case.
According to NBA Today Host and current analyst on Undisputed Rachel Nichols believes that the real reason Harden wants out of Philadelphia is because of Center Joel Embiid. She believes that Harden wants to be the #1 option on a team, and it can’t happen with the reigning MVP.
Harden, 34, is one of the top players in the league and his two man game with Embiid was one of the reasons the 76ers were a top seed in the Eastern Conference. Following another postseason loss to the Boston Celtics in the second round, the 76ers reportedly gave Harden a below max contract, which led to Harden asking for a 3rd trade in 3 years.
With respect to Nichols, this is the first rumor over Harden’s relationship with Embiid being the reason for a trade. Harden even went on record calling Morey a liar while on an oversees tour.
The reason Harden wants out is secondary at this point. The real question is where the guard will end up.
