NBA fans appear to be getting awfully brave these days. In fact, it’s gotten to the point where it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if we had another “Malice at the Palace” erupt in the very near future.
We nearly had one during tonight’s 76ers-Lakers game at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly, as a couple of unruly Sixers fans were letting Carmelo Anthony have it, to the point where the Lakers star had enough. According to the TNT commentator Ian Eagle, the fans had been going hard at Melo four about four possessions. At that point, Anthony felt it was time to do something about all the slander, so he made his way over to the two 76ers fans, before being intercepted by the referees.
The fans were eventually ejected, but courtside footage shows Melo nearly getting into it with some other fans as the refs and security guards sort out the situation.
One day there isn’t going to be anyone there to intercept the angry player, and some poor fan is going to pay for their words. And I’ll tell you one thing: I won’t feel for that person in the slightest, because chances are they’ll be asking for it — kinda like these two dummies.

At the time of this altercation, Melo’s Lakers were trailing the 76ers by 16 points. So it’s no wonder the 10-time All-Star was a little on edge.
