LiAngelo Ball, who was once famous for his basketball background, is now making a name for himself in the music world. The 26-year-old, now going by the stage name “G3 Gelo,” is set to make his first-ever televised performance during the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend.

His rise in the music industry has been fast, thanks to the success of Tweaker. Since its release, the song has racked up over 14.4 million views on the WorldstarHipHop YouTube channel. It has become a favorite in locker rooms across college and professional sports teams. The song’s popularity even landed him a record deal with Def Jam, reportedly worth up to $13 million, with $8 million guaranteed. Because of this, Ball has now fully shifted his focus to music, stepping away from his short time in the NBA G League.
LiAngelo Ball’s Basketball And Music Career And His Impact On NBA All-Star Weekend
Despite never making an official NBA debut, Ball’s basketball past has played a crucial role in his journey. He was part of the historic Chino Hills High School team that went undefeated (35-0) and won the California state championship in 2016 alongside his brothers, Lonzo and LaMelo. However, unlike his siblings, both of whom became top-three NBA Draft picks, setbacks disrupted LiAngelo’s basketball career. A shoplifting incident in China forced him to leave UCLA and thwarted his attempt to break into the NBA. His last professional stint came in 2024 with Astros de Jalisco in Mexico, where he played just two games before returning to the U.S. to focus on his music career.
LiAngelo Ball’s rap career has skyrocketed since releasing Tweaker, leading to a Lil Wayne remix and frequent play in pro sports arenas. His Def Jam deal grants him the creative freedom to build his own label. He’ll make his major televised debut at NBA All-Star Weekend, performing on All-Star Saturday Night and at halftime of the All-Star Game on February 16. With his brother LaMelo controversially snubbed from the roster despite leading fan votes, LiAngelo will be the Ball family’s sole representative at the event.
