The 2025 NBA Three-Point Contest is looking like one of the most thrilling in recent memory. With some of the league’s best shooters set to compete, all eyes will be on Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard as he looks to win his third straight title. The contest will take place on February 15 at the Chase Center in San Francisco as part of NBA All-Star Weekend.
Lillard, who won in both 2023 and 2024, is aiming to make history by joining Larry Bird and Craig Hodges as the only players to win three consecutive Three-Point Contests. In his last two victories, Lillard scored an impressive 26 points in the final round, proving he thrives under pressure. However, this year’s competition will be tough, featuring Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks), Cade Cunningham (Detroit Pistons), Darius Garland (Cleveland Cavaliers), Tyler Herro (Miami Heat), Buddy Hield (Golden State Warriors), Cam Johnson (Brooklyn Nets), and Norman Powell (Los Angeles Clippers).

Powell comes in as the most accurate shooter this season, hitting 43.1% of his three-pointers while averaging a career-best 23.9 points per game. Garland is right behind him, shooting 42.9% while leading the Cavaliers to the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Herro, renowned for his deep-range shooting, ranks third in the league for total three-pointers made, knocking them down at a 39.3% rate while attempting a career-high 9.7 threes per game.
Breaking Down The Contestants: Accuracy And Volume
While Lillard is the defending champ, his challengers bring serious shooting talent. Brunson, a two-time All-Star, has been a reliable three-point threat for the Knicks, shooting 39.7% from beyond the arc. Hield, the 2020 Three-Point Contest winner, has made 2,056 career threes, ranking 17th all-time while shooting 37.1% this season. Johnson, a consistent deep shooter for the Nets, is hitting 41.8% from three, marking his third season shooting above 40%.
Cunningham has the lowest three-point percentage in the group at 35.4%, but he has made huge strides, improving from 30.9% in his first two seasons. His selection over Pistons teammate Malik Beasley, who ranks second in total threes made this season behind only Anthony Edwards, raised some eyebrows. However, Cunningham has been a key part of Detroit’s turnaround from 14 wins last season to 26 (and counting) this year.
With such a stacked lineup, the 2025 Three-Point Contest is set to be one of the highlights of All-Star Weekend. Will Lillard make history, or will someone new take the crown? Fans will get their answer on February 15 when these sharpshooters take the court in San Francisco.
