The Dallas Mavericks took a commanding 3-0 series lead with Saturday’s 116-107 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves. As the Timberwolves face the daunting task of avoiding a sweep by the Mavericks in Game 4 on Tuesday, they are rushing to become the first team in NBA history to come back from a 0-3 deficit and win a series.
Historically, no team in the NBA has ever accomplished such a comeback in the playoffs. The odds are stacked against the Timberwolves. Especially considering that the Mavericks have won each of their six previous playoff games against Minnesota.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks’ dynamic duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving has been making headlines with impressive performances throughout the series. The pair made history by each scoring at least 30 points in Game 3.
Given the ongoing dominance of the Mavericks, the Timberwolves’ potential comeback seems unlikely. Furthermore, Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns continues to struggle in this series, managing only 14 points in the last game. Despite Anthony Edwards’ significant contributions, they have not been enough to secure a win for the Timberwolves.
For Minnesota to have any chance of turning the series around, they need to find a way to get more out of their star players. Towns and Edwards must elevate their game and work in tandem to counter the Mavericks’ potent offense led by Doncic and Irving.
