The 2024 NBA Draft is knocking at the door. Despite the draft class being considered short on star power, there’s still significant excitement to see who will emerge as the league’s future stars. Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s draft.
How Many Rounds Are There in the 2024 NBA Draft?
The 2024 NBA Draft consists of two rounds. For the first time in history, the draft will be spread across two days:
- First Round: Wednesday, January 26, at 8 p.m. ET, held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN+.
- Second Round: Thursday, January 27, at 4 p.m. ET, at ESPN’s Seaport District Studios in Manhattan, also available on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN+.
Joe Dumars, the NBA’s Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations, explained the reason behind this new format.
“Based on feedback about the NBA Draft format from basketball executives around the league and my own experience in draft rooms, we believe that teams will benefit from being able to regroup between rounds and having additional time to make decisions during the second round. Two nights of primetime coverage will also enhance the viewing experience for our fans and further showcase the draftees,” Dumars said, per NBA.
How Many Picks Are There in the Draft?
There will be 58 total picks over the two rounds. The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers hold the most picks, with four each, while the Brooklyn Nets have no picks this year.
What is the Order for the 2024 NBA Draft Pick?
There will be 30 picks on the first night of the 2024 NBA draft and 28 on the second night.
