Maria Taylor is certainly wanted in her profession.
The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reported on Thursday that ESPN has offered the 34-year-old reporter and TV host a roughly $2 million raise over her current yearly salary of $1 million. This report comes on the heels of the Worldwide Leader In Sports deals with the fallout from reporter and host Rachel Nichols’ 2020 comments suggesting that Taylor, who is Black, was awarded her job as “NBA Countdown” host during the NBA Finals because of a diversity effort.
If she chooses to let her contract run out on July 20th, there are two other networks interested.
“Sources said Taylor has interest from both NBC and Amazon, while CBS, Fox and TNT are not involved.
Taylor’s current contract expires in less than two weeks, on July 20, which is the date of a potential Game 6 of the NBA Finals. If a new agreement isn’t reached, it is unclear right now what ESPN and Taylor would do if the Suns-Bucks series extends.”
Marchand reported earlier this month that Taylor is looking for “Stephen A. Smith” type money. He gets paid “near $8 million” per year.
Taylor’s contract will expire on he same day Game 6 of the NBA Finals will be played, if needed.
