The worst case scenario of a drag race played out at the Wilkesboro Dragway in North Carolina over the weekend as an out of control car crashed into spectators and left one woman with serious injuries.
22-year-old Amber Garner was at the track on March 20th when a purple Mustang came into her area where fans had gathered to watch the action.
Amber was struck by the car and is lucky to be alive.
“As soon as it did hit me, I guess I fell on the ground — I blacked out, so I don’t know exactly,” Amber told FOX 8.
She was rushed to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment.
“Her arm is broken in four places and broke her knuckle,” Amber’s sister explained on a GoFundMe page she started to help with medical costs.
“My family needs help raising money to help my sister. We were at a drag race at Wilkesboro drag way and a car lost control and struck her. She will need multiple surgeries and physical therapy. Her arm is broken in four places and broke her knuckle. We would really appreciate any donations since she does not have insurance. She is such a fun-loving amazing person and didn’t deserve this. Anything helps!”
