Longtime NASCAR and IndyCar driver Danica Patrick is thankfully okay this week after a scary encounter at an event.
The longtime racing driver was among the thousands of people stuck over the weekend at the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert. She posted an Instagram Story on Sunday to explain her predicament.
“Made it out. Stuck 3 times and it took 4 hours … but on pavement.
“The challenge from weather really helped show everyone’s true nature at BM and it was to step up and help each other. It is an alternate reality where everyone gives what they can and no money is exchanged,” Patrick continued.
“Too bad that couldn’t be our full reality but for now …. It’s one magical week in the desert. Or swamp this year.”

Heavy rain on Friday and Saturday led to swampy conditions and flooded roads. It made things impossible for most of the 70,000 attendees to leave. Some desperate people even hiked through the muddy desert and hitchhiked to the closest town or city like Reno in an effort to escape the festival.
For those unaware, Burning Man is an annual arts and music festival that places an emphasis on self-reliance and trading goods among the attendees or gifting rather than the exchange of money.
In her career, Patrick had one win and seven podium finishes in her IndyCar career and seven top-10 finishes during her time in NASCAR. She is the only woman to ever win an IndyCar event.
Post her retirement from NASCAR in 2018, Danica Patrick is an established businesswoman and entrepreneur as she owns the Warrior by Danica Patrick athleisure collection along with the wine brand, Somnium. Aside from her business endeavors, the most successful woman in open-wheel car racing also hosts the Pretty Intense podcast on YouTube.
She may be 41 years old, but fitness remains a huge part of her life. You can catch multiple videos of her doing so weekly on her social media sites.
