Justin Gaethje has opened up about his potential title run in the UFC following his defeat to Max Holloway at UFC 300 on April 13.
In the last moments of the historic UFC 300 pay-per-view event, Gaethje was brutally knocked out by Holloway in the dying seconds. In the final seconds of the fight, ‘Blessed’ invited ‘The Highlight’ to square up in the middle of the octagon for one last round of action, even though it was clear that Holloway was ahead on the scorecards.
With just one second left in the fifth and final round, the exchange resulted in a brutal knockout that sent Justin Gaethje sprawling to the canvas. Speaking about returning from it and potentially challenging for the title in the future, he believes anything can happen in the sport of MMA.
“I know for a fact that my skills are still there… as long as I have that skill and that desire, then I see no reason to not fight again. My potential to fight for a belt is definitely diminished, however it’s not impossible. I knocked out Dustin Poirier now he’s fighting for a belt. You never know what this sport’s gonna bring.”

Can Justin Gaethje recover from the knockout?
In the past, we have seen many fighters change after suffering a brutal knockout. That seems to be Justin Gaethje’s main worry.
While nothing can be said with certainty at the moment, it remains to be seen how Gaethje’s body will recover following his loss to Holloway. That said, ‘Highlight’ should certainly take some time off and recover fully.
