Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley had a bad showing in his loss to Colby Covington at UFC Vegas 11, and now, he has suffered a serious rib injury in the wake of that match.
Woodley’s fight was waved off in the fifth round of his headliner opposite Covington this past Saturday at UFC APEX after he suddenly cried out in pain following him setting up a guillotine choke.
An X-ray of Woodley’s torso appears to show a badly broken rib.
Woodley told ESPN.com he had popped his rib earlier in the fight, and when he attempted to use the guillotine to stand, it popped out again.
“It was the most pain ever,” he said.
UFC President Dana White thought it was time for Woodley to think about retiring.

“I think that he should start thinking about hanging it up,” White said of Woodley’s future. “He’s had a great career, he’s had a great run. He’s made money.”
