Magomedov Ankalaev Takes Aim At Alex Pereira With Strong Words
Ankalaev defeated Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 307, earning a title fight against Alex Pereira. Before facing Rakic, Ankalaev believed the UFC placed him in his path to block a potential fight with ‘Poatan.’ However, Ankalaev remained focused on securing the win to earn his title shot.
“We know that Rakic is a great fighter. I think the only reason the UFC put him in front of me is to defend their champion. So, we’re going to go across from him, we’re going to roll him over, and then we’re going to move onto the champ,” he said at the UFC 308 press conference.
The Russian fighter is focused on becoming the next world champion. However, the Brazilian fighter has already fought three times this year. In his most recent fight against Khalil Rountree, where he scored a knockout, Pereira suffered an injury that will take time to heal. As a result, fans can likely expect a fight between Ankalaev and Pereira in 2025.
