Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka are scheduled to fight again at UFC 303. This fight will occur after Conor McGregor’s injury-related withdrawal from the event. Shortly after McGregor’s withdrawal, UFC President Dana White announced that Pereira vs. Prochazka 2 will now headline UFC 303.
This will be the second time these two fighters face each other in the light heavyweight division. Before getting into the details of their upcoming rematch, let’s check out their first fight, who won, and other details.
The outcome of the First UFC Fight Between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka
At UFC 295, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka faced former middleweight champion Alex Pereira in the main event. They competed for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. Alex Pereira emerged victorious, defeating Jiri Prochazka with a knockout in the second round at 4:08.
In only his 11th MMA fight, Alex Pereira became a two-division champion by defeating Jiri Prochazka with elbow strikes to capture the vacant light heavyweight title in the UFC 295 main event. The two fighters are set to meet again, with Pereira defending his title and Prochazka aiming to avenge his previous defeat.
UFC 303, part of International Fight Week, will occur at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Initially, Conor McGregor was set to return after suffering a broken tibia against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. However, due to an injury, McGregor cannot fight Michael Chandler on June 29.
Dana White announced that McGregor vs. Chandler will be rescheduled for later in the year, likely in August or September. Instead, UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira will defend his title against former champion Jiri Prochazka in the main event. Brian Ortega will face Diego Lopes in the co-main event. This promises to be an electrifying event, so don’t miss the action.
