Tszyu vs Fundora: The boxing fans were in for a treat as the trailblazing Australian Tim Tszyu took on Sebastian Fundora from the United States. Fundora, who stands at a massive 197 cm tall, was the biggest challenge in the Aussie’s career both literally and metaphorically.
Tim Tszyu who is known for his exhilarating speed and powerful boxing combinations showed grit in the biggest test of his career till now.
Who won between Tszyu vs Fundora fight?
Tim Tszyu suffered a controversial split decision loss against Sebastian Fundora. The matchup of Tszyu vs Fundora was pretty competitive until Tszyu suffered a deep cut from an elbow by Fundora. It is hard to be critical of the Aussie given the tide of the bout completely changed after he got his face cut.
This was Fundora’s first loss in his professional career as Sebastian went on to become the unified champion at the 154 pounds division in boxing. It was reportedly hard for Tim to have a clear vision after suffering from the laceration. Since the bout was close and controversial it will be interesting to see if Fundora will give the Aussie a rematch immediately.
In the post fight interview Fundora said,
You know in the first round, I was like ‘Damn, I didn’t want to break my nose today’. But my Dad said to our cutman, ‘we’ve been bleeding our whole life. This is boxing, you’re gonna get hurt. You just gotta be smart.

Fundora made it clear that he didn’t want to get seriously injured in his bout. But later realized it wouldn’t really matter as he’s there to scrap and become the world champion. His opponent’s activity got declined massively after the cut he suffered from his errant elbow.
Through the first seven rounds Fundora landed 47 jabs compared to Tim’s abysmal seven. Sebastian was much more successful in maintaining distance and giving damage to his rival inside of the boxing ring. Tim Tszyu will want to avenge his only loss inside the ring after he recovers from the cut he suffered in the bout.
It’ll be interesting to see against whom does Fundora begins his title defense in the near future given he didn’t suffer from any gruesome injuries in the bout. He’ll want to return to the ring as soon as possible in order to return to his winning ways.
